Deep within the enchanted woodlands of Kirkcudbright, there’s a magical tradition that captures the hearts of children and dreamers alike — mailing letters to the fairies! Along the whimsical Fairy Trail, hidden among the mossy trees and winding paths, you’ll find tiny doors, hollowed tree trunks, and secret nooks where visitors leave messages for the woodland fairies.

Children (and the young at heart) write their hopes, dreams, and little notes of kindness, then carefully tuck them into crevices or post them in “fairy mailboxes.” Some believe if you close your eyes and listen closely, you’ll hear giggles and wings fluttering in response.
✨ This charming tradition reminds us that Scotland isn’t just a country of castles and mountains — it’s alive with folklore, wonder, and magic.
